"Air Source Heat Pump Warm Homes Funding Scarborough Borough Council in partnership with North Yorkshire County Council, Ryedale District Council, Hambleton District Council and Richmondshire District Council have secured funding from the Warm Homes programme to upgrade homes which are off the gas network.

The scheme is looking for properties with; poor energy performance, do not have an existing central heating system (such as oil or LPG) and are located away from a viable gas network. The funding will provide 200 Air Source Heat Pumps and associated central heating / hot water systems for homeowners and tenants who meet the following eligibility criteria:

• A household income below £21,000 or a household member receives certain state benefits (such as Tax Credits, Pension Guarantee Credit, Income Support)

• The property has an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) in band D, E, F or G

• Qualifying residents will be selected on a first come first served basis. Qualifying residents will be selected on a first come first served basis.

For rental properties, a contribution towards the cost of the installation will be required from the landlord.

A low EPC rating is an indicator that the property is lacking suitable energy efficiency measures. Properties should aim to be in bands A-C were possible. The EPC rating can be found free of charge through the online public register https://www.epcregister.com/

The scheme is managed through Communitas Energy on behalf of Scarborough Council and North Yorkshire County Council. Communitas Energy can access the Government’s Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive scheme through its Assignment of Rights Model.
